Description

This trip allows you for one night at Tamarindo Beach on the Pacific ocean plus the riding thrills of Costa Rica's lush high central mesa and the sight of two magnificent and very different active volcanoes. In the turtle season you will have opportunity to take a nocturnal excursion to view massive leatherback turtles burrowing their eggs in the sand. If a little adventure and more sun and sand are important to you, just let us know and we'll include a couple of days at the beach.

Itinerary

Day 01. Meet and greet at the airport and transfer to hotel for your first night.

Overnight at Hotel Britannia, standard room.(B)

Day 02. Early in the morning, transfer to our office to pick up your bike. Ride south the Panamerican Highway crossing the “hill of death” into San Gerardo de Dota.

San Gerardo is also a paradise for birdwatchers as it has more than 170 bird species, including some of the most rare and endangered bird species. It is a special place for watching the resplendent quetzal bird, one of the most ornate creatures of the wild which belongs to the family of Trogonidae. In the past only royalty were permitted to wear Quetzal feathers which served as a substitute for the gems and diamonds known to European royalty. Mayan kings wore headdresses of dozens of the long feathers with their stunning iridescence.

Overnight at Trogon Lodge, standard room.(B)

Day 03. Early in the morning, take a hike though the cloud forest, if you lucky you will be able to spot a “quetzal” bird. Continue to Dominical Beach on the South Pacific Coast.

Located south of Manuel Antonio this area has become in the last couple of years, a favorite stop for many tourists. In here you will find miles of unspoiled lonely beaches, beautiful bays along the coast, and the tiny village of Dominical which offers various cozy restaurants and “sodas” (local food). For surfing, fishing, and diving, you will be at the right place!

Overnight at Hotel Villas Rio Mar, junior suite (B)

Day 04. Today you have the possibility, either to do short ride to Manuel Antonio and enjoy the national park and beach or take the south loop via Cortez, Palmar, Buenos Aires & San Isidro then continue to Manuel Antonio.
Note: the Manuel Antonio National Park is closed on Mondays.
Considered to be Costa Rica’s most beautiful park, with enchanting white-sand beaches ideal for swimming, and tropical rainforest forest alive with wildlife. Watch for the monkeys and iguanas who share the park with you. Most hotels are small and intimate, set high on a hill overlooking the rain forest, endless beaches and the national park. Options abound here! Whether you are looking for a romantic honeymoon hideaway or an action-packed visit, this premier destination has the answer.

Overnight at Villas Lirio, garden room.(B)

Day 05. Today you have a long ride to Arenal Paraiso Hotel, at the base of the world famous Arenal Volcano.

One of the most active volcanoes of the world, cloud forests, a lake world-famous for windsurfing and an incredibly diverse population of wildlife is what you will find in this area. The flawless silhouette of Arenal Volcano, its loud rumblings and frequent explosions of lava and ash are a sight not to be missed by any visitor to Costa Rica.

Overnight at Hotel Arenal Paraiso, superior (B)

Day 06. Perhaps in the morning you will like to do Canopy Tour on your hotel. Continue your ride to the surf town of Tamarindo.

Both nature and beach lovers will find plenty here to fill their days. Tamarindo is famous for its stunning beaches, its marine national park and wildlife refuge. This area encompasses beaches that attract one of the largest leatherback turtle populations in the world. Peak nesting seasons in the area are October through January. Due to its constant waves, it is also one of the favorite places for surfers.

Overnight at Hotel Diria, pool side room (B)

Day 07. After enjoying the beach, Take the Panamerican highway south to San José.

Overnight at Hotel Britannia, standard room.(B)

Day 08. Transfer back to airport for flight home.
